Why Insulate the Crawl Space?
Is your furnace running non-stop? If you’re like most homeowners in Colorado, your furnace is staged inside your crawl space, which is notorious for having air leaks that could substantially increase the amount of cold air seeping into your house. This makes your furnace work overtime and dramatically increases your home’s energy bills.

We can fix that. By adding spray foam insulation to your crawl space, we are able to help decrease the amount of outside air coming into your home, and drastically reduce your energy bills in the long run. Adding spray foam can also help prevent your pipes from freezing during our harsh winters.

A poorly insulated crawl space can also result in cold floors throughout your home. With spray foam insulation, you’re sealing off the hard to reach cracks and crevices that are letting your controlled air out and outside air in. Spray foam is going to save you from this headache and make your home more comfortable and energy-efficient.

Benefits of Spray Foam in the Crawl Space

Between increasing the energy efficiency of your house, saving you some money on your bills, and increasing the conditioned air and heat throughout your home, an added benefit to insulating your crawl space is improving the health and safety of your home.

When the outside air seeps into your home, it brings with it all the things you’re trying to keep out. With spray foam we are able to apply an air-tight barrier on the crawl space walls or ceiling, depending on the right application for your home. We can also add a vapor barrier on the floor if needed. This will stop the outside air from moving in and out of your home’s most vulnerable spot around the foundation, making for a much healthier area, and a more comfortable living environment for you and your family.

WARMER FLOORS

Keep the outside air out and allow the heat from your furnace to warm the floors.

LESS DRAFTS

Stop those drafts that are looking for a way in around the foundation of your home.

LOWER BILLS

When the furnace runs less you'll notice on your monthly energy bills.

IMPROVED HEALTH

Spray foam improves health and safety by helping to keep allergens out.
Things To Consider When Using Crawl Space Spray Foam Insulation
Increased insulation also means increased radiant heat throughout your home, which is great when you think about how cold your walls and floors can get in the winter. However, while the added spray foam insulation will certainly help retain the heat in your home, one thing to keep in mind is the materials used for flooring throughout your home.

If your floors are made of tile or hardwood, your floors are going to feel colder regardless. This is simply because our bodies are at a temperature of 98 degrees Fahrenheit. If you're walking around in your bare feet and your home's not more than 72 degrees Fahrenheit anywhere, you’re going to notice a difference in temperature.

Crawl Space Insulation Process

1

BEFORE SPRAYING

Prior to us installing spray foam, you want to make sure everything is “walled-off” or covered properly, especially if you’re storing any materials in the crawl space. It’s also best to see if your HVAC system operates through a high-efficiency unit or an upper combustion unit, as this will determine the amount of spray foam that can be used to insulate your crawl space.

2

WHILE SPRAYING

While spray foam is completely safe for all occupants, we don't want any people or pets inside your home while we spray, due to off-gassing from the product. For optimal safety, we make sure your HVAC system is turned off as we insulate your crawl space.

3

AFTER SPRAYING

Upon completion, we will inform you how long your HVAC system should remain off, based upon what our calculations show that you need for proper air exchanges. Once that time has passed, feel free to turn on your HVAC system and return to the cozy comfort of your home.
